About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Operations Assistant Intern to join our growing small to medium-sized business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience across all aspects of business operations while developing valuable leadership and management skills.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and senior team, you will assist in the day-to-day running of the business, learning everything from warehousing and logistics to customer service, inventory management, and administration. This role offers a genuine pathway for career progression into a supervisory or 2IC (Second-in-Charge) position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse & Inventory
- Assist with receiving and checking incoming deliveries.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders accurately.
- Maintain warehouse organisation and cleanliness.
- Conduct stock counts and assist with inventory control.
- Help monitor stock levels and report shortages.
Operations Support
- Support the daily coordination of business operations.
- Assist with scheduling deliveries and managing workflow.
- Ensure procedures and safety standards are followed.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
Customer Service
- Assist customers both in person and over the phone.
- Respond to enquiries professionally and promptly.
- Support the sales team with order processing and follow-up.
Administration
- Perform general administrative duties including data entry and filing.
- Assist with maintaining operational records and documentation.
- Prepare reports and update internal systems as required.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with all departments.
- Assist with special projects and business initiatives.
- Learn leadership and problem-solving skills through mentoring and practical experience.
Skills & Experience - Essential
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Physically fit and capable of performing warehouse duties when required.
- Current Australian driver's licence
Desirable
- Experience in warehousing, retail, logistics, or customer service.
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one).
- Interest in business operations, supply chain, or management.
