About the Role
Ahrens is seeking an IT Systems Engineer (Cloud & Infrastructure) to support and evolve our enterprise infrastructure across national operations. In this fast-paced, multi-site environment, you will be responsible for the administration, optimisation and security of Ahrens’ hybrid IT environment spanning on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms.
You will manage and maintain core infrastructure services including servers, storage, virtualisation, networking, backup and cloud platforms, while acting as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues. The role will also support the design, deployment and optimisation of Microsoft applications/services and hybrid cloud environments.
Working closely with the broader IT team, you will help drive infrastructure modernisation, platform standardisation and continuous improvement, ensuring Ahrens’ systems remain secure, scalable and reliable to support the organisation’s growth.
What You'll Bring
- Strong technical support experience across PCs, laptops, peripherals and end‑user systems, backed by great troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows OS, Office, Windows Server, Active Directory) plus exposure to Linux environments.
- Experience with virtualisation, storage, backup and disaster‑recovery platforms (e.g., VMware).
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals — routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud and automation, including Azure, scripting (PowerShell/Python) or infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
Awareness of modern security practices and frameworks (Essential Eight, ISO/IEC 27001) and familiarity with SharePoint, telco/network support or DevOps concepts.
