About the role:
The Occupational Health and Safety Adviser role sits within the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) team in the Health Safety Wellbeing and Inclusion Unit (HSWIU). The HSWIU has responsibility for the development of strategic direction, policy and procedures to support a systematic and consistent approach to the management of employee health, safety and wellbeing aligned with legislative compliance, best practice and standards.
The OHS team works to ensure a safe work environment which supports the physical and psychological wellbeing of departmental staff. A key focus is the identification and control of operational OHS hazards and risks and supporting the implementation of systems and processes to reduce the risk of injury or illness in department workplaces. The role also works with the Health, Wellbeing and Injury Management team to achieve these outcomes

About you:

A qualification in occupational health and safety is mandatory.

Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, relevant legislation, regulations and standards.

Demonstrated experience in OHS systems and processes in highly complex work environments where psychosocial hazards represent the primary risk factor.
