Wall and Floor Tiler
Waterite Plumbing & Sealing is seeking a skilled and motivated Wall and Floor Tiler to join our growing team. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing surfaces, waterproofing, laying wall and floor tiles, repairing existing tiled areas, and delivering high-quality finishes across residential, commercial, and maintenance projects.
The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and within a team, and a commitment to producing high-standard workmanship in line with Australian industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine plans, drawings, and specifications to determine tiling layouts and work requirements
- Measure and mark surfaces to accurately plan tile placement
- Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout, adhesive, and repairing substrate defects
- Apply waterproofing membranes and wet area sealing systems
- Cut, shape, and fit tiles around edges, corners, pipes, drains, fixtures, and fittings
- Lay ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, marble, slate, stone, and other tiles to walls and floors
- Spread adhesives and correctly position tiles ensuring alignment and spacing accuracy
- Grout tiled surfaces and clean excess grout and adhesives
- Repair damaged or leaking tiled areas and complete re-grouting and resealing works
- Install floor screeds and falls to drainage requirements where necessary
- Carry out silicone sealing and finishing works
- Maintain a clean and safe worksite in accordance with WHS requirements
- Use tiling tools and equipment safely and correctly
- Communicate professionally with clients, supervisors, and team members onsite
- Work across residential homes, bathrooms, balconies, commercial sites, and maintenance projects
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years relevant wall and floor tiling experience
- Strong knowledge of waterproofing systems and wet area preparation
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications
- Experience using tile cutters, grinders, laser levels, and tiling tools
- High attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team
- Strong problem-solving skills onsite
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Current Driver License
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or equivalent qualification
- Waterproofing experience
- Experience in maintenance and remedial tiling works
- Experience with mosaic and epoxy grout systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform manual labour and lift heavy materials
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, bathrooms, roofs, and construction environments
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work on feet for extended periods
