We’re excited to welcome a new Billing Officer to our Customer & Innovation group! This is a 12-month temporary role, offering a great opportunity to gain experience in the Billing Operations team and make an impact in a supportive team environment.
The Customer and Innovation group leads and champions the way Urban Utilities connects with its customers. Our approach is focused on remaining contemporary, by understanding the current and future needs of our customers and appropriately shaping our services.
This position delivers a broad range of high-quality, customer-focused, and efficient administrative and support services to support the effective operations of the Revenue Services Team. The primary purpose of the role is to validate and process exception jobs related to meter reading cycles. This includes reviewing and validating meter reads, averaging reads where required, and ensuring accurate billing outcomes.
About You:
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
Demonstrated experience in billing, accounts, utilities, or high-volume administrative environments
Proven ability to accurately validate, interpret and process data, ideally within billing or meter reading cycles
strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, anomalies and exceptions
Experience reviewing and applying averaging or estimation processes to ensure accurate outcomes
Well-developed problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex billing issues
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Strong system and computer skills, including experience working across multiple platforms (Excel experience desirable)
High level of accountability and commitment to delivering accurate and reliable work
Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise with internal stakeholders and support customer outcomes
Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to remain focused and productive during periods of change or pressure
A continuous improvement mindset, with a willingness to contribute to process enhancements and team success
