We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Statutory Planner to join our Development Planning team on a temporary full-time basis.
In this role, you’ll assess and manage a range of complex planning applications, provide expert advice to the community, and contribute to quality development outcomes across Banyule. You’ll work on varied projects spanning residential, commercial and industrial developments, collaborating closely with planners and specialist teams including arboriculture and sustainability professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and process planning permit applications and subdivisions
- Prepare professional reports and recommendations for Council
- Provide planning advice to the public and key stakeholders
- Represent Council at VCAT hearings and prepare submissions
- Work collaboratively across Council to ensure coordinated planning outcomes
- Mentor and support less experienced planners
- Contribute to process improvements and planning projects
About you/what you’ll bring
You’ll have a recognised tertiary qualification in urban planning and experience in a planning role at either local government or private level. You’ll also have
- A working knowledge and understanding of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and associated statutory procedures including the provisions and both State and Local Planning Policies of the Planning Scheme.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and administrative skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including report writing.
- Knowledge of the principles and best practice of statutory planning.
Pre-employment requirements
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence

- A temporary full time parental leave cover position (17 August 2026 to 27 September 2027) with a monthly RDO
- Hybrid working model, split between working from home and modern Greensborough office close to public transport, café and shops
- An attractive salary of $101,202.68 to $110,025.50 per annum (dependent on experience) plus super
