- Monthly RDOs giving you an extra 12 days of leave per year
- 24/7 wellbeing support through the Sonder app + employee recognition programs
- Flexible permanent full-time role available based at our Cairns office
A safe, well-kept home means something different when the person living in it is a young person in statutory care. That's what makes this role matter.
As a Property Officer with Kanda Children, Youth & Family Services in Cairns, you'll look after a portfolio of around 10–30 properties that support accommodation programs for children and young people. It's practical, it's varied, and the work you do behind the scenes — inspections, repairs, setups, compliance — makes sure every property is genuinely ready for the people who'll call it home.
Real estate experience is a bonus, not a requirement — we'll teach you what you need to know.
What you'll be doing
- Conducting entry, routine and exit inspections, and coordinating responsive maintenance
- Arranging and following up repairs, and assisting with claims along the way
- Sourcing and onboarding new properties to support portfolio growth
- Coordinating setups and vacates — prep, services and handovers, done properly
- Managing compliance with trade, tenancy and legislative requirements
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors and service delivery teams to keep things moving
- Keeping property documentation, records and asset registers accurate and up to date
You're the right person if...
- You've got experience in property management, building or trade coordination — community housing is a bonus
- You're confident across Microsoft Office and other everyday applications
- You communicate well and genuinely care about supporting clients and your team
- You're detail-focused, organised, and good at managing your own time
- You hold a Working with Children Check (Blue Card), Licensed Care Services approval (LCS2) and NDIS Worker Screening, or you're willing to get them
- You hold a valid Driver's Licence
Why join us
- Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5pm — no afterhours or weekend work
- 12 RDOs a year — one extra day off every month, built into how we work
- Wellness initiatives plus 24/7 access to the Sonder wellbeing app
- Access to an employee rewards hub providing savings and cashback across everyday purchases
- Employee recognition initiatives, including gift vouchers for Employee of the Month and service anniversaries
- Enjoy free Orbit World Travel Club membership - $100 travel voucher, exclusive offers, and dedicated support
- Genuine long-term career opportunities as Kanda continues to grow
