As a Maintenance Fitter in poultry manufacturing, you will be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance of production equipment and machinery.
Your role ensures high uptime, safety, reliability, and compliance with food-processing standards. This role is critical in supporting production efficiency and achieving minimal downtime.
The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: -
· Perform start-up checks and complete preventative maintenance tasks designed to minimize breakdown risks and optimize equipment longevity.
Perform preventative, planned, and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
· Ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
· Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimise downtime.
· Production Line setup (eg Emergency stop testing etc) and ensuring all lines are running smoothly
· Solving technical problems and checking to ensure smooth production/packaging run.
· Liaise with Operations and Maintenance Management to discuss problems and improvements
· Machine and equipment cleaning and housekeeping.
· Liaising with Contractors and completing maintenance records.
· Maintain accurate records in a systematized manner of maintenance activities, including service logs and parts usage.
· Strictly follow procedures and Work Instructions.
· Co-operating with the Operations Management and Maintenance Manager to achieve planned results.
· Contributing to the achievements of the company’s quality objectives.
· Awareness of company policies and practices.
· Promoting WHS Awareness and culture which strives to a Nil LTI.
· Protect the health and safety of self and others and company properties.
· Strictly follow environmental requirements.
· Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment as required
· Conduct activities in Safe and Quality assured and responsible manner and Collaborate with other departments to prioritise and complete maintenance tasks.
· Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
· Undertake other duties as directed by Management.
Qualifications and Skills
· Trade qualifications in Fitter / Turning are required
· Proven experience in maintenance within a manufacturing or food production environment.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with workshop activities such as lathe, machining, welding, and rebuilds.
· Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving mechanical systems.
· Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, experience in Welding preferred,
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
· Drivers Licence and Forklift license required
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
Pay: Up to $85,000.00 per year
