We are currently seeking experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurses Grade 3 to join our team at the Marrmak Unit, located within the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre in Deer Park. We have multiple opportunities available, including both permanent ongoing and fixed-term positions, and will consider applications from candidates seeking full-time or part-time employment.
Marrmak is a specialist 20-bed mental health residential program for women in custody and also provides outreach support and therapeutic day programs. This unique service offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful, recovery-oriented care while developing specialist expertise in forensic mental health nursing.
About the role
The Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3 delivers high-quality mental health nursing care within a custodial setting, practising within a recovery-oriented framework and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and key stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and ongoing clinical reviews.
- Deliver crisis intervention and mental health support.
- Develop, implement and evaluate person-centred care plans.
- Undertake risk assessments and contribute to safe therapeutic environments.
- Administer and monitor medications.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation.
- Build therapeutic relationships with consumers and their supports.
- Collaborate with Corrections Victoria, primary health providers and other stakeholders.
- Work across inpatient services, reception assessments, At Risk reviews and outreach services throughout the site.
About you
You will be a skilled mental health nurse who is passionate about recovery-oriented practice and delivering high-quality care in a complex and rewarding environment.
To be successful, you will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of three years' mental health nursing experience.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary mental health nursing practice and NMBA standards.
- Demonstrated experience conducting comprehensive mental health assessments.
- The ability to plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work autonomously within a complex clinical environment.
- A commitment to consumer recovery and person-centred care.
