About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Fixed Term Master IV to join our marine operations team, supporting passenger, guest and cargo transfers to and from K’gari. This role is ideal for a confident vessel operator who takes pride in safe operations, clear communication and delivering a welcoming experience for guests and passengers.
About the Role
As a Master IV, you will be accountable for operating vessels in a safe, professional and seamanlike manner, with responsibility for passenger and cargo safety, pre-departure checks, vessel reporting and day-to-day operational communication. You will provide informative commentary where required and work closely with the Marine Operations team to ensure services run safely, efficiently and in line with relevant marine and workplace health and safety requirements.
Key Role Requirements

Operate vessels safely and professionally, with due regard to relevant marine laws, procedures and conditions.

Manage the safety of passengers, guests, crew and cargo during vessel operations.

Complete pre-departure checks and promptly report faults, operational concerns, hazards, near misses or incidents.

Provide clear operational communication and verbal or written reports to marine leadership as required.

Deliver friendly, informative and professional service to passengers, resort guests, contractors and visitors.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
-
Current Master IV certificate of competency or equivalent qualification required for the role.

Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 or relevant engineering qualification highly regarded.

Previous experience operating commercial passenger or cargo vessels, with strong knowledge of safe vessel operations.

Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain if required.

Strong communication skills, confidence engaging with a broad range of people and the ability to work across a 7-day roster.
