About Role:
Responsible for all food preparation for patients, staff, and functions, ensuring a high standard in quality of Hospital food production and cleanliness within the department in line with required Food Safety Plan, relevant Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards and Hospital policy.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

Supervision and undertake the planning, preparation and serving of a high quality of food and meals to patients, staff and visitors to the Hospital

Demonstrate skills in the preparation, cooking and serving of food to all patients, staff and visitors
-
Ensure all meals are presented in appropriate proportions, of the correct temperature and according to the menu requests of customers
-
Prepare food for functions as required and requested by relevant Manager
-
Demonstrate awareness and ability to meet the dietary needs of all customers ensuring ingredients are accurately measured to meet specific dietary needs
-
Demonstrate ability to provide a good variety of nutritious meals to meet the changing needs of customers
-
Participate in the preparation of special menus to cater for patients with specific dietary needs / therapeutic diets as directed by Dietician or relevant Manager

Prepare and present special function buffets and food displays as required

Ensure a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and food preparation areas

Ensure all prepared foods are stored, appropriately dated, labelled and covered in rooms and freezers

Assist in the ordering of all food stock, ingredients, supplies and equipment
Qualifications:

Trade Certificate in Commercial Cooking

Food Hygiene Certificate
-
Demonstrated experience as a chef in a large-scale food preparation environment
-
Effective communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required
-
Excellent time management skills
-
Commitment to excellence in preparation and supply of food services
-
Experience in a similar role within the health care industry - desirable
-
HACCP Training Certificate - desirable
