The opportunity
Ventia has an opportunity for an experienced Qualified Electrician to join our Electrical Maintenance Team on a fixed-term contract through to July 2027. Based in Bundamba, QLD, you will undertake electrical maintenance, inspection, testing and compliance activities across Defence sites throughout Australia, working closely with our Defence industry partners to support critical operational and maintenance requirements.
This is a technical maintenance and testing-focused role rather than a construction-based electrical position. You will perform inspection, testing, fault finding and preventative maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, Defence requirements and site procedures.

About the Role
-
Perform electrical inspection, testing, maintenance and fault-finding activities across Defence facilities.

Deliver preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure electrical systems remain safe, compliant and operational.

Conduct testing and compliance activities in accordance with AS/NZS 3760 and AS/NZS 3003.

Complete RCD/RCBO, insulation resistance, continuity and related electrical testing.

Identify, report and assist in resolving electrical defects and non-compliance issues.

Maintain accurate testing records, maintenance documentation and compliance reports.

Apply safe isolation, lock out/tag out and electrical safety procedures.

Work in accordance with Australian Standards, WHS requirements and Defence site procedures.
Regular travel within Queensland and interstate is a requirement of this role. Travel is typically planned in advance and may involve working away from home for one to two weeks at a time.
About You
-
Current QLD Electrical Mechanic Licence (or recognised equivalent).

Demonstrated post-apprenticeship experience as a qualified electrician, ideally within maintenance, testing or compliance-focused environments.

Experience conducting inspection and testing activities in accordance with AS/NZS 3760, with AS/NZS 3003 experience highly regarded.

Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with experience using a range of electrical testing equipment.

Defence, healthcare, government or other highly regulated industry experience highly regarded.

Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems and/or ARC Licence advantageous.

Current Australian Driver's Licence.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
