Every day, our Waste Services teams help keep the Sutherland Shire clean, safe and thriving. From coordinating daily collections to supporting our crews in the field, the work of our Operations Supervisors ensures essential services are delivered safely, efficiently and reliably.
We’re looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor who enjoys leading people, solving problems and making a difference through practical, hands-on leadership. This is an opportunity to take ownership of daily operations, support a dedicated team and play a key role in delivering services that the community depends on.
Reporting to the Coordinator Waste Services, you’ll oversee the day-to-day coordination of waste operations, including workforce allocation, scheduling, plant and equipment, and service delivery. You’ll provide visible leadership to your team, promote a strong safety culture and identify opportunities to improve how we deliver our services.
You’re a confident and approachable leader who understands what it takes to run a successful frontline operation. You enjoy working with people, building capability and creating an environment where teams can perform at their best.
To succeed in this role, you’ll have:
- Experience supervising teams within waste services, transport, logistics or a similar operational environment.
- The ability to plan and coordinate daily work programs, resources and schedules.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
- Experience leading, mentoring and supporting employees to achieve positive outcomes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with teams, contractors and stakeholders.
- A current HR Driver Licence.
Waste industry experience, Local Government experience, management qualifications or a Boat Licence will be highly regarded.
This is an opportunity to lead a team that makes a real difference every day. You’ll work in a supportive environment, contribute to a strong safety culture and help deliver essential services that our community values.
With a 9-day fortnight and the opportunity to be part of a team delivering meaningful frontline services, this role offers the chance to grow your leadership skills while making a visible impact across the Sutherland Shire.
If you’re a practical leader who enjoys being part of a team, improving the way things are done and delivering great outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.
