What's the role?
We have a great opportunity for an Apprentice Printing Machinist at our Townsville Print Centre.
You will be working in a progressive work environment where we offer a supportive culture and opportunities to expand your skill set and allow you to perform at your best.
As an apprentice Printing Machinist, your training will be enhanced with a variety of specific industry skills that are crucial to your development as a skilled and qualified printer. These skills go beyond basic knowledge and will enable you to perform tasks efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards.
You will participate within a team of highly skilled professional Fitters, Electricians, Printers, Publishers and Production personnel, to ensure production deadlines are met and equipment is repaired promptly and efficiently.
Duties:
As an apprentice, you will work alongside our experienced press operators to learn all aspects of operating and maintaining our Man Roland Geoman printing press and associated plate making machines, duties will include:
Set-up and operation of the Man Roland Geoman
Operation of Press Folder, Reelstand, colour and registration desk.
Colour matching and quality control
Plate changing and press adjustments
Routine maintenance and troubleshooting
Stock handling and job preparation
Understanding print production workflows from start to finis
Press planning using the PPM system (press planning manager)

Ability to work in a team environment
Good computer skills
Ability to follow & adhere to policies and procedures
Reliable and punctual
The ability to work on a 7 day rotating roster with weekend and shift night required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Have a strong work ethic and motivated to learn
Passionate for trade & result driven
Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
