Details: Are you passionate about delivering high-quality visitor experiences in a unique natural setting? The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Senior Visitor Services Officer to join the Volunteer and Visitor Experience team at the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.
In this role you will contribute to protecting and showcasing some of ACT’s most valued natural places while helping visitors connect with the environment. You’ll be part of a supportive team delivering meaningful public value every day.
About the role
This position plays a key role in the day-to-day operation of the Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre, ensuring the delivery of professional, welcoming and informative services to a diverse range of visitors. Working across a roster (10 days on, 4 days off), you will contribute to a positive visitor experience while supporting the broader goals of conservation, recreation, and tourism.
The role also supervises a small team of Visitor Services Officers and works closely with various staff and volunteers to maintain effective and efficient operations.
Duties
Under limited supervision, the occupant will:

Deliver high-quality frontline customer service and visitor information

Supervise and support a small team of Visitor Services Officers

Coordinate daily visitor centre operations, including retail and point-of-sale functions

Respond to visitor enquiries (in person, phone and email)

Undertake administrative and financial tasks, including cash handling and reconciliations

Support safe and efficient operations and contribute to a positive visitor experience
What you will bring
The successful applicant will have:

Experience delivering high-quality customer service, including supervising staff

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Sound judgement, initiative and adaptability in a dynamic operational setting

Experience in administrative and financial processes, including business systems (e.g. point-of-sale and Microsoft Office)

An interest in nature-based recreation and an understanding of how visitor services support conservation outcomes

Ability to work a roster including weekends and public holidays (penalty rates apply)

Ability to reliably travel to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (rural location)

Willingness to wear a uniform

Current manual driver’s licence is highly desirable
