STL Transport & Logistics is an Australian-owned and operated transport and logistics company based in Epping, Victoria, providing tailored freight, warehousing, and transport solutions across Australia. Established in 2020, the company specialises in local and interstate transport, crane trucks, B-doubles, warehousing, and logistics support services for a diverse range of clients across the transport and infrastructure sectors.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the business. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Epping, Victoria, suited to a qualified accountant with strong commercial accounting experience in a fast-paced transport and logistics environment.
The successful candidate will support the financial management of the business through accurate reporting, compliance management, payroll support, and effective financial control processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage financial records, general ledgers, and accounting transactions
- Prepare monthly management reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities including reconciliations and journal entries
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare and lodge BAS, GST, payroll tax, and superannuation obligations
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities
- Monitor cash flow and banking transactions to support operational requirements
- Support payroll processing and reconciliation activities for operational staff
- Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and taxation obligations
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation for year-end reporting
- Analyse financial data and provide recommendations to improve financial performance and internal controls
- Maintain accurate accounting records using Xero and Microsoft Excel
- Support continuous improvement of accounting systems, procedures, and reporting processes
About YouEssential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
- CA or CPA qualification
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant accounting experience
- Demonstrated experience in commercial accounting and financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, GST, payroll, and superannuation requirements
- Advanced experience using Xero accounting software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Desirable
- Experience working in high-volume transactional environments
- Experience supporting payroll functions and operational workforce environments
- Experience supervising bookkeeping or junior accounting staff
