This is a critical enterprise leadership role where you will influence Australia’s technical and network regulatory landscape, guiding strategy across spectrum, satellite and telecommunications infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
Partnering closely with the EGM Regulatory Affairs and senior leaders across Optus, you will:
Lead Optus’ technical and network regulatory strategy, shaping policy positions across spectrum, satellite services and network regulation
Drive enterprise-wide regulatory advocacy and reform initiatives to support efficient spectrum use, network resilience and innovation
Oversee engagement with regulators and policymakers, including government bodies and industry stakeholders, ensuring credible and evidence-based advocacy
Provide strategic leadership on spectrum policy, satellite regulation and network obligations
Embed regulatory requirements into network planning, investment decisions and operational strategy
Lead the development of regulatory submissions, consultation responses and policy positions
Monitor domestic and global developments in spectrum, satellite and telecommunications regulatory frameworks, advising on risks and opportunities
Represent Optus in industry forums, technical working groups and regulatory engagements
Lead and develop a high-performing team of regulatory professionals, driving capability and strategic impact
What You’ll Bring
Deep expertise in telecommunications network regulation, including spectrum policy, licensing, satellite services and technical frameworks
Proven ability to shape and influence regulatory policy through strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement
Strong leadership experience managing and developing specialist regulatory teams
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate regulatory change into network investment and operational outcomes
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with credibility at senior regulator and executive levels
Extensive experience (12–15+ years) in technical regulation, spectrum policy, network planning or regulatory roles
Demonstrated experience working with Australian regulators and government bodies
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, telecommunications, economics, public policy, law or related discipline (postgraduate desirable)
