We are seeking an experienced and reliable Dairy Farm Hand / Tractor Operator (Level 4) to join our dairy operation. The successful applicant will be responsible for operating and maintaining a range of agricultural machinery, supporting daily dairy activities, livestock management, pasture production, and general farm operations. This role requires the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgement, and contribute to the efficient and safe operation of the farm.
Key ResponsibilitiesTractor and Machinery Operations
- Operate tractors and associated implements for feeding, mowing, spraying, cultivation, seeding, silage and hay production.
- Operate machinery including feed mixers, loaders, telehandlers, mowers, balers, tedders, rakes, spreaders and other farm equipment.
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections and routine maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Identify and report mechanical issues and arrange repairs as required.
- Maintain machinery service records and ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently.
Dairy Operations
- Assist with dairy shed cleaning and maintenance.
Livestock Management
- Monitor animal health and welfare and report concerns promptly.
- Assist with animal treatments, herd movements, calving, mating and general stock handling.
- Support feeding programs and pasture allocation.
- Maintain accurate livestock records as directed.
Pasture and Farm Operations
- Assist with irrigation maintenance.
- Undertake fencing, water system repairs and general farm maintenance.
- Support pasture establishment, fertilizer application and weed control programs
Workplace Health and Safety
- Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements.
- Participate in farm safety programs and risk management procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow environmental and biosecurity protocols.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.
- Experience working on a dairy or livestock farm.
- Ability to perform routine machinery maintenance and minor repairs.
- Good livestock handling skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Current driver's license.
- Own reliable transport for too and from work.
Desirable:
- Chemical Users Certificate (ChemCert or equivalent).
- Front-end loader, telehandler or forklift experience.
- Artificial insemination, animal health or herd management experience.
- HR or MC truck license.
- First Aid Certificate.
Classification
This position is classified at Level 4 under the applicable Dairy Industry Award, reflecting the requirement to operate complex machinery, perform skilled farm tasks with limited supervision, exercise judgement in daily work activities, and assist with coordinating routine farm operations.
Hours of Work
Rostered hours will be worked in accordance with operational requirements, including early mornings, weekends and public holidays as required. Usual roster for this position is 2 day off in a 7 day cycle. Working every second weekend and half of the public holidays.
Remuneration:
Salary and employment conditions will be negotiated based on skills, experience and qualifications and will comply with the applicable industrial award and legislation.

Pay: $27.00 – $36.00 per hour
