The Civil Operations Technical Officer is responsible for coordinating and supervising the delivery of civil infrastructure maintenance, renewal and minor capital works across City of Palmerston.
Working closely with the Civil Operations Manager, you will oversee the delivery of civil maintenance, upgrades, repairs and replacement works across roads, drainage, footpaths, car parks and public lighting, while delivering minor capital projects and supporting larger infrastructure programs. You will manage contractors and consultants, coordinate procurement and budgets, undertake asset inspections and provide technical advice to support safe, efficient and sustainable infrastructure outcomes. The role also contributes to asset management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, emergency response and continuous improvement, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with legislative, WHS and Council requirements to benefit the Palmerston community.

You hold a Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related field, or have at least five years' experience in a similar role. You are a confident problem solver with the ability to analyse complex information, exercise sound judgement and make timely decisions. You communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and deliver high-quality customer service. You have experience interpreting technical drawings, Australian Standards and civil infrastructure guidelines, along with contract management, compliance and WHS requirements. Experience in local government and work site traffic management qualifications will be highly regarded.
