WELDER / FABRICATOR

About the role
We are seeking a practical and reliable Welder / Fabricator to join our production team. The role involves fabricating plastic components, frames and structures used in custom displays, fabricated products and general manufacturing projects.
You will work from drawings, measurements and job instructions to produce accurate, high-quality work. This role would suit an experienced welder or someone with strong transferable fabrication skills from a similar industry.
Key responsibilities
· Complete plastic welding using hot-air, extrusion and other suitable welding techniques.
· Weld thermoplastic materials such as PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene and other plastics, depending on project requirements.
· Cut, drill, route, bend and prepare plastic components for fabrication.
· Manufacture tanks, trays, guards, covers, ducting, pipework and other custom plastic products.
· Read and interpret workshop drawings, sketches and measurements.
· Measure and mark materials accurately before cutting or assembly.
· Prepare welding surfaces and select the appropriate welding rod, temperature and equipment for each material.
· Assemble, tack, weld, trim and finish fabricated components to the required standard.
· Inspect welds and completed products for accuracy, strength, appearance and possible leaks or defects.
· Use plastic-welding equipment, heat guns, extrusion welders, routers, saws and other workshop tools safely.
· Work with the general plastics fabrication and production teams on custom projects.
· Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
· Assist with general workshop and production duties when required.
· Identify material, quality or production issues and report them promptly.
Skills and experience
We welcome applicants with experience in plastics welding, metal fabrication or a similar hands-on manufacturing environment. Relevant backgrounds may include:
· Steel, stainless steel or aluminium fabrication.
· Structural, sheet-metal or general welding.
· Automotive, trailer or vehicle-body fabrication.
· Engineering or machinery manufacturing.
· Shopfitting, signage or display manufacturing.
· Construction-related metalwork.
· Other industries involving accurate fabrication, assembly and finishing.
What we are looking for
· Competence in MIG and/or TIG welding.
· Ability to use grinders, saws, drills and common fabrication equipment.
· Good measuring and basic drawing-reading skills.
· Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce neat, accurate and consistent work.
· Good practical problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Reliable attendance, a positive attitude and a commitment to workplace safety.
· Willingness to assist across different production activities.
Desirable but not essential
· Experience welding plastics, aluminum or stainless steel.
· Experience working with custom or one-off products.
· Experience in signage, shopfitting, displays or point-of-sale manufacturing.
· Forklift licence and/or current driver licence.
