The Role

We are seeking an experienced transport planner to take on a key technical and delivery leadership role, contributing to the successful delivery of complex transport planning and advisory projects across a diverse portfolio of work.
The role offers the opportunity to lead and support the planning, analysis, and development of strategic, multi-model transport planning outcomes, with a strong focus on public transport, active transport and integrated network performance. You will apply sound professional judgement and project management capability while working closely with clients, multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders supporting projects through key stages of project definition and assessment.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Lead the planning, analysis and development of transport planning and advisory outcomes on complex projects, applying sound professional judgement to deliver robust, defensible and high‑quality advice aligned with policy frameworks and client objectives.

Take ownership of allocated work packages, applying project management principles to manage scope, programme, risk and quality, and support deliver through key Project Assessment Gateways from SASRs to BCs.

Work closely with clients, internal teams and stakeholders to support coordinated project delivery, support effective working relationships, and help resolve technical, delivery and stakeholder challenges.

Contribute to the commercial success of projects through efficient delivery of planning services, support to proposals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide technical guidance and support to team members, assisting with problem‑solving, quality of outputs and practical transport planning judgement within project teams.
About You
You are an experienced transport planning professional who takes ownership of your work, exercises sound professional judgement, and enjoys driving multi-modal planning outcomes within a collaborative consulting environment. You will also ideally have an interest in the economics and realisation of benefits for the projects you lead.
Suitable applicants will be/have:

Tertiary degree in Transport Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline

Strong consulting and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to support client relationships

Sound commercial awareness, including understanding of project delivery including management of scope, programme, quality and budget.

Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex planning, technical and policy considerations clearly

Strong understanding of transport policy frameworks, planning guidelines and evidence-based assessment approaches.
