Located in Melbourne’s vibrant West Brunswick, our clinic provides compassionate, trusted veterinary care to a loyal client base. We offer a broad range of GP services including preventative healthcare, medical workups, soft tissue surgery, dentistry and diagnostic care.

The Opportunity

This is a permanent part-time or full-time position of 34–38 hours per week, with flexibility around days and hours for the right candidate.
As our Head Veterinary Nurse, you will work closely with our Practice Manager to lead the nursing team and oversee the day-to-day clinical workflow of the practice.
A key focus of this position is developing and upskilling our nursing team. We are looking for someone who can recognise individual strengths and areas for development, provide practical training and mentoring, and help nurses progress their clinical skills and confidence.
You will be someone who leads from the floor and by example, setting clear expectations, demonstrating excellent nursing standards and helping create an organised, capable and accountable nursing team.
Your role will include:

Leading and coordinating the nursing team and daily clinical workflow

Mentoring, coaching and upskilling nurses across all areas of veterinary nursing

Identifying training needs and supporting individual development

Leading by example with a strong hands-on clinical presence

Maintaining consistently high standards of patient care and nursing procedures

Supporting effective surgical, hospital and consultation workflows

Assisting with nursing rosters and day-to-day team organisation

Working closely with the Practice Manager to continually improve processes, standards and team performance

Encouraging clear communication, accountability and teamwork across the clinic
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

Strong veterinary nursing experience and confidence across surgical, hospital and general nursing

Previous leadership experience, or significant senior nursing experience with a genuine desire to step into a leadership role

A passion for teaching, mentoring and developing other nurses

The ability to lead by example and set high clinical and professional standards

Strong organisational skills and the ability to confidently manage workflow in a busy clinic

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A proactive approach with strong attention to detail

A commitment to advocating for your patients and delivering a high standard of care

A positive and practical leadership style focused on helping the team succeed
