About the role:
Step into finance leadership role and manage the numbers that keep a statutory authority operating smoothly.
As Assistant Director, Finance, you will run the day-to-day of ACT Leave's finance function including budgeting, reporting, reconciliation and the systems behind them. You will have opportunities to step in for the Director, Finance when needed. This is a role with scope to lead people as well as work on the numbers. Your work will be visible and feed into Board and Executive Team decision-making.
You will:

Manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance Team.

Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and coordinate the annual financial audit process.

Contribute directly to Board and Audit and Risk Committee papers on financial performance and risk.

Lead and develop finance officers with an opportunity to shape how the team operates.

Step in for the Director, Finance during periods of absence.
About you:
-
Solid experience in financial management including budgeting, statutory reporting, financial risk, ideally in government or a regulated environment.

Strong technical accounting knowledge and comfortable with the standards that come with it.

Experience supervising or leading a small team, or ready to take that step.

Strong analytical and communication skills where you can turn financial data into advice people can act on.

Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or commerce, with CPA or CA completed or underway.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Highly Desirable:

Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or related discipline.

Membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or an equivalent, recognised professional accounting membership.
Preferred:

Demonstrated experience working within or alongside government, statutory authorities or regulatory bodies.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
