Network Planning Officer

About the role
As a Network Planning Officer, you will play an important role in developing and maintaining operational schedules that keep Victoria's rail and coach network moving. Working within Network Services Planning, you'll support the accurate and timely planning of passenger, freight, and heritage services, while ensuring operational requirements, infrastructure occupations and special events are effectively communicated and managed.
Key Accountabilities Include
Developing and maintaining short-term train schedules across the V/Line network.
Planning and coordinating schedule changes for special events, public holidays and infrastructure occupations.
Creating, validating and maintaining train paths for passenger, freight, heritage and operational services, ensuring network capacity, infrastructure occupations and operational requirements are accurately reflected within Train Plan and associated planning systems.
Supporting fleet planning activities to ensure rolling stock availability aligns with service requirements and maintenance schedules.
Producing and distributing operational communications, timetable documentation and service alteration notices.
Maintaining operational records and planning documentation that support service delivery across the network.

This position is based at 452 Flinders Street, Melbourne.
About You
You bring experience in planning, scheduling or operational coordination, ideally within a rail, freight or transport environment. You have knowledge of operational planning systems, understand the impacts of network occupations and service changes, and can balance competing operational priorities while working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate will possess:
Experience in rail network planning, train planning, operational scheduling or timetable planning within a passenger or freight rail environment.
Working knowledge of Train Plan or similar rail planning systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within a team.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex operational information.

This position will be paid in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administration Employees Agreement 2023 and is classified as SNR OFF 1.1, which is a base salary of $125,708.
