About the Role
As a Lending Officer, you'll be responsible for assessing and structuring loan applications across a range of residential lending products. You'll work closely with brokers, funders, mortgage insurers, valuers, and internal stakeholders to deliver outstanding service while maintaining strong credit quality and portfolio performance.
You'll play a key role in helping brokers find solutions, guiding applications from assessment through to settlement, and contributing to the ongoing success of our lending business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and structure home loan applications in line with lending policies and risk appetite
- Analyse complex self-employed and business financials
- Provide guidance and support to brokers and sales staff on lending scenarios
- Prepare and recommend loan submissions, including exceptions and escalations
- Monitor applications through to settlement and proactively manage outstanding conditions
- Identify and manage potential risks throughout the loan process
- Prepare submissions for funders and mortgage insurers
- Maintain accurate records and ensure service level agreements are achieved
- Support and mentor Lending Support Officers and other team members
- Contribute to process improvements and business growth initiatives
About You
You are a driven, solutions-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced lending environment. You combine strong credit skills with a commercial mindset and enjoy building lasting relationships with brokers and stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- Cert IV or Diploma in Finance & Mortgage Broking (preferred)
- Degree qualification in Finance, Business or related discipline highly regarded
- 2+ years' experience in lending, credit assessment, mortgage management, banking or financial services
- Strong understanding of Australian lending practices and responsible lending requirements
- Experience assessing self-employed and complex lending applications
- Ability to analyse financial statements, tax returns and business structures
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture
- Delegated Lending Authority experience advantageous but not essential
