Corporate Comms & Public Relations
This role shapes and protects our organisation’s reputation by managing media relationships and telling our story in the public domain. It leads the corporate brand and public relations strategy, delivering campaigns to strengthen awareness and engagement, while supporting executives to have a strong external voice. The role also monitors media and leads crisis communications, providing insights to help the business respond and stay informed.
No two days are the same. It’s a busy fast-paced environment, scanning media and providing insights, developing PR ideas, drafting comms for various channels and working closely with internal and external stakeholders on a range of exciting programs and projects to improve the member experience.

Who are we?
Teachers Health was created by teachers for teachers over 70 years ago and is the only health fund exclusively for the education community. As a not-for-profit health fund, we exist for our members covering the lives of over 400,000 teachers, education staff & their families.
What will you do? / How will you help?
- Lead, plan and implement the media and public relations framework and strategy for THG delivering high quality media and public relations content, strategies, campaigns and media activities.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including union & industry partners and relevant media outlets.
- Lead day-to-day management of consumer and corporate media and be the main point of contact for all THG’s media enquiries. Report on the effectiveness of consumer and corporate media campaigns and activities.
- Monitor industry and government media to provide insights for relevant business units and manage daily media monitoring service.
- Drive awareness of THG and subsidiary brands through proactive and reactive consumer media planning and assist in growing the organisation’s profile with key audiences by increasing media presence.
- Identify and manage opportunities for the CEO, Chair & other leadership representatives to contribute to relevant news, public commentary, and similar forums of public influence.
- Plan and implement THG’s LinkedIn strategy for corporate communications.
- Identify opportunities, create content, and manage approvals for a variety of media materials including press releases, bios, fact sheets and media alerts.
- Coordinate the development and creation of the organisation’s Annual Report, working closely with key stakeholders across the business including CEO office, Finance and Marketing.
- Identify opportunities within THG’s corporate sponsorships for external leverage - liaison with external organisation; case study identification; interviewing case studies; pitching media stories; profiling within social channels and the Annual Report.
- Work closely with the Head of Marketing, Partnerships to amplify campaigns through public relations and activation as well as coordinate our annual brand health survey to ensure we are monitoring & improving our brand health.
- Lead & develop our crisis communication plans to ensure our organisational readiness for situations that may occur and ensure cross functional planning is in place with other relevant business areas.
What do you need? /What are we looking for?
- Essential:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Marketing/Business Communications/Journalism/Public Relations) or equivalent work experience.
- Experience across multiple channels including production of messages, documents and assets within these channels
- Mid-level copywriting for various channels
- Incredible comms skills especially writing in different voices and formats
- Proofing/QA
- Content Management Systems (CMS)
- PHI / Insurance or similar highly regulated industry
Desirable:
- Understanding of media, stakeholder and union landscape
- Media Isentia/Meltwater
- Existing Media relationships
