Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated SCADA Systems Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Sydney, Australia .
Key responsibilities:
The SCADA Systems Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end implementation and technical support of the Hitachi SCADA solution, including:
Translating product features, system engineering, and project requirements into SCADA design and implementation outputs
Supporting SCADA interface definition and integration with related control, monitoring, communications, and operational systems
Developing and maintaining SCADA configuration, including alarms, events, graphics, operator workstation functionality, and operational data presentation
Supporting system integration, factory testing, site testing, commissioning, and defect resolution
Providing technical support to project engineering, testing, commissioning, and operations teams
Maintaining SCADA design consistency, configuration control, and alignment with internal product standards
Acting as a key technical link between the project delivery team and the Hitachi SCADA product team
Key skills, knowledge and experience:
Experience in SCADA systems engineering within complex rail or infrastructure environments
Practical experience with Hitachi Rail’s in-house SCADA product, including design, interfaces, integration, testing, and technical support
Understanding of SCADA architecture, interfaces, alarms, events, data acquisition, and system monitoring functions
Ability to work with product teams, systems engineers, testers, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues
Experience supporting system integration, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities
Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation, configuration records, and engineering inputs
Relevant qualifications in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Information Technology, or similar
