About the Role
We are accepting applications for a Sample Receipt Officer to join our modern, NATA-accredited laboratory in Chatswood, Sydney. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming samples, ensuring they are logged, processed, and managed efficiently. You will play a vital role in sample integrity and customer service while collaborating with both clients and laboratory staff. We are particularly seeking candidates who can work the afternoon shift from 11 AM to 7 PM, with flexibility to meet the operational needs of the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Management: Unpack, check, and accurately log samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring all information is recorded correctly.
Customer Service: Respond to general customer enquiries via phone and email, including booking couriers, organising bottle orders, and providing advice on sample containers and preservatives.
Logistics & Supply Management: Prepare and manage sample containers and project supply orders to ensure laboratory efficiency.
Lab Coordination: Work closely with laboratory staff to prioritise and promptly pass on urgent samples.
Quality & Compliance: Complete all Quality Control records in accordance with the Quality System.
Workplace Safety & Waste Disposal: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper disposal of sample waste (e.g., soil jars, water bottles, metal waste, solvent waste).
Skills and Experiences:
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
A Science degree, Diploma or Certificate IV
Passion for Science
High attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a team environment and also be individually motivated
Can meet tight deadlines & work under pressure
Some shift work may also be involved
