St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital Day Surgery Centre is an extension of St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, providing a dedicated same-day surgical experience for patients undergoing a variety of procedures.
Located within St Andrew's Place in Spring Hill, the purpose-built facility features modern procedure rooms, operating theatres, and recovery spaces designed to support high-quality care and exceptional patient experiences.
Your part in the team
Working as a Theatre Orderly within our Day Surgery Centre, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth operation of our perioperative services and ensuring a positive experience for patients, visitors and clinical teams.
You will assist nursing and clinical staff with the safe transfer, positioning and mobilisation of patients, while also supporting the preparation of theatre equipment and procedural areas.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting the safe transfer and mobilisation of patients.

Assisting with patient transport throughout the Day Surgery Centre.

Setting up and moving equipment in preparation for procedures.

Maintaining a clean, safe and organised environment.

Following infection prevention and control procedures.

Assisting clinical staff with patient-related activities as required.

Using safe manual handling techniques and mechanical aids.

Contributing to a positive patient experience through exceptional customer service and teamwork.
What makes a difference for us?
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Previous experience working as an Orderly, Patient Support Assistant or within a hospital environment.

Experience in a Theatre or Perioperative setting will be highly regarded.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

A commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.

The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Initiative, reliability and a positive attitude.

Physical capability to safely undertake manual handling activities.

Flexibility to work rotating shifts across the operational hours of the Day Surgery Centre.
