Job Description
Join the dedicated Environmental Services team at John Flynn Private Hospital as a Casual Environmental Services Assistant, helping maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors and staff.
As part of our Environmental Services team, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across clinical and non-clinical areas of the hospital.
You will work as part of a supportive team while also having the opportunity to work independently, ensuring hospital areas are maintained to a high standard and in accordance with infection prevention and control and workplace health and safety requirements.
Flexible Working Hours
We are looking for casual staff who can work across a range of shifts, including:

04:00 – 12:00

06:00 – 13:30
-
08:00 – 16:00
-
11:00 – 19:00
-
13:30 – 21:30
-
18:00 – 02:00
About You
You are a reliable, conscientious and motivated individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.
You understand the importance of providing a clean and safe healthcare environment and are comfortable working around patients, visitors and healthcare staff. You have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities

Clean and maintain clinical and non-clinical areas to a high standard.

Clean patient rooms, wards, offices, corridors, public areas and other designated spaces.

Make and change patient beds as required.

Perform general cleaning duties including vacuuming, mopping, dusting and sanitising.

Follow hospital cleaning procedures and Infection Prevention and Control requirements.

Safely use cleaning equipment, products and chemicals.

Dispose of waste appropriately and in accordance with hospital procedures.

Maintain a professional, respectful and caring approach when working around patients, visitors and healthcare staff.

Identify and report hazards, maintenance issues or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies as required.

Work effectively as part of a team while also being able to work independently.

Follow Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.

Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment throughout the hospital.
You Will Also Bring

Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping or environmental services is desirable.

Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is highly regarded.

Understanding of basic cleaning, hygiene and infection prevention principles.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.

Ability to safely use cleaning equipment, products and chemicals.

Ability to follow procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
