Create your best future and join Westpac as a Manager, Second Line Assurance
What’s the role?
As a Manager in Second Line Assurance, you’ll step into a high‑impact role reviewing how processes are managed and how controls operate across the bank. Working within the Risk function you’ll deliver independent, risk‑based assurance that feels similar to audit, but with a stronger focus on insight, challenge, and uplift.
This role has a primary focus on the Treasury portfolio, providing exposure to one of the most critical areas of the bank, alongside broader engagement across WIB, Technology, and DDAI. You’ll partner closely with stakeholders to assess risk, evaluate control effectiveness, and identify opportunities to strengthen the control environment and improve outcomes.
You’ll contribute to enterprise‑level insights, support proactive risk management, and gain a deep understanding of how the bank operates end‑to‑end. This is a permanent, full‑time role based in Sydney with a hybrid working model requiring two days per week in the office.
What do I need?
- Substantial experience in assurance, internal audit, operational risk, or risk advisory within a financial services environment
- Proven experience performing control testing and assessing control design and effectiveness, with an audit‑style mindset
- Strong understanding of Institutional Banking, Treasury, Financial Markets, Technology and/or APRA prudential requirements (highly desirable)
- Experience reviewing end‑to‑end processes, identifying control gaps, and delivering practical, risk‑based recommendations
- Ability to perform data‑driven or analytics‑based testing, with strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with confidence to provide constructive challenge
