Your new role
Are you passionate about sports turf maintenance and take pride in delivering high-quality playing surfaces?
Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking two motivated Sports Turf Greenkeepers to join our Parks Operations team. This hands-on role works closely with the Sports Turf Team Leader to deliver specialist sports turf maintenance activities across Council's sporting facilities, ensuring safe, high-quality and well-presented playing surfaces for our community.
You will undertake sports field preparation and maintenance activities including mowing, irrigation, fertilising, aeration, surface repairs and renovation works. You will also assist with monitoring turf performance, maintaining irrigation systems, operating specialised equipment and contributing to sportsground improvement projects.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check)
What we are looking for
- Experience in sports turf maintenance, irrigation management and the delivery of high-quality sporting surfaces.
- Sound knowledge of turf renovation, soil health, nutrient management and sportsground presentation standards.
- Ability to identify turf performance issues, recommend corrective actions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience operating specialised sports turf equipment and maintaining irrigation systems.
- A proactive team player capable of working independently, supporting colleagues and delivering high-quality outcomes in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Application Criteria
- Certificate II or III in Sports Turf Management (or related discipline) and/or substantial experience in sports turf maintenance and irrigation.
- Experience maintaining sportsgrounds and sporting surfaces, including mowing, irrigation, turf renovation and presentation.
- Knowledge of sports turf equipment and irrigation systems, with the ability to identify maintenance issues and support high-quality turf outcomes.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team in an outdoor environment.
