About Baby J's
We're Australia's first dessert deli — whole cakes displayed like a deli counter, sliced to order by weight and wrapped in butcher paper. We're a small, family-run shop in Werribee with a loyal local following and big plans. It's a fun, real food concept and we need someone who gets that.
The role
We need a reliable, skilled baker to produce our core range and keep the fridge stocked. You'll be working independently in the kitchen — following our recipes, maintaining quality and consistency, and taking genuine pride in what comes out. This is a hands-on production role, not a management position.
What you'll be making
- Cheesecakes: New York, No-bake, Basque
- Pavlovas, tarts, and slices
- Cakes, Brownies, cookies
- Seasonal specials as the menu grows
- Batch production to keep the deli fridge full
What we're looking for
- Experience in a commercial kitchen or bakery
- Can follow a recipe precisely and produce consistent results
- Good cake decorating skills — presentation matters
- Self-managed, reliable, and takes ownership of their work
- Food safety certificate (or willing to get one)
- A genuine love of desserts
Hours
Around 30 hours per week to start. You set your own hours within our production window of 1am–3pm — we care about output, not clock-watching.
