About the role
We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our People & Culture team in Melbourne.
This role will suit an HR professional who is confident working with a broad range of stakeholders and understands that effective HR partnering is about building strong relationships, providing sound advice and influencing positive outcomes.
You will need to be comfortable building rapport quickly, working with different personalities and managing challenging stakeholders. You'll have the confidence to have difficult conversations, challenge when required and provide clear guidance and advice, while maintaining strong and trusted relationships.
Working closely with leaders and the broader People & Culture team, you will provide practical and commercially balanced HR advice across the employee lifecycle, supporting leaders to effectively manage people matters and build their capability.
What you'll be doing
Working closely with the Senior HR Business Partners and Executive General Manager, People & Culture, you will:

Partner with leaders to provide practical and commercially balanced advice across performance, conduct, employee relations, workplace investigations, grievances and people-related risk.

Build strong, trusted relationships with leaders and employees, becoming a credible and valued first point of contact for HR matters.

Coach and guide leaders to build their confidence and capability in managing people effectively.

Navigate complex and sensitive people matters, including supporting leaders through challenging situations and difficult conversations.

Use your judgement and influencing skills to challenge constructively, provide guidance and help leaders make sound people decisions.

Support organisational change, workforce planning, talent management and employee engagement initiatives.

Own the end-to-end coordination and governance of the performance planning process, including annual performance cycles, communications, training and reporting.

Contribute to capability, development, talent and culture initiatives.

Prepare workforce reporting and use people data to identify insights, risks and opportunities.

Contribute to continuous improvement across People & Culture processes, systems and practices.
About you
- Previous HR advisor or Business Partner experience, ideally within a professional services or multi-site environment.

Strong knowledge and practical application of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations principles and HR policies.

Demonstrated experience coaching and guiding leaders through people management matters.

Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to quickly build genuine rapport and trust.

The confidence to manage challenging stakeholders and remain constructive and solutions-focused when conversations are difficult.

Strong influencing skills – able to communicate with impact, challenge appropriately and provide clear guidance.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different stakeholders and situations.

A practical, commercially minded approach to HR advice and problem solving.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
