At Sedgman, our people are at the centre of everything we do. As Payroll Manager, you'll lead a high-performing payroll team responsible for delivering accurate, compliant and efficient payroll services across our expanding Australian and international operations.
Based in Brisbane, this is a pivotal leadership role where you'll oversee payroll delivery across multiple jurisdictions while helping shape the future of payroll as our business continues to grow internationally.
With operations expanding into new regions and new systems being introduced, this role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, support change and help build scalable payroll processes for a growing global workforce.
Leading a small, global team of payroll professionals, you'll bring a people-first leadership style, strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to navigate complex payroll environments across multiple jurisdictions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the global payroll function, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payroll delivery across Australia and international operations.
- Provide leadership, coaching and development to a team of payroll professionals, fostering engagement and continuous growth.
- Support Sedgman's continued global expansion by researching and implementing payroll requirements across new and emerging jurisdictions.
- Oversee payroll costing, on-cost allocations, leave provisions, reconciliations, month-end activities and the accurate flow of payroll information into financial reporting and the general ledger.
- Manage complex payroll activities across multiple entities, industrial agreements and regulatory environments.
- Partner closely with Finance, People & Capability and business leaders to provide trusted payroll advice and strategic support.
- Support the successful implementation of Dayforce, helping drive payroll transformation and process improvement initiatives.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative and solution-focused approach to payroll service delivery.

What we're looking for:
You're an experienced payroll leader who combines technical expertise with strong leadership capability. You understand the importance of accuracy, compliance and customer service and have the ability to navigate complexity while building trusted relationships across the business.
You'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience leading payroll functions within complex, multi-entity and ideally international environments.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation requirements and compliance obligations across Australia, with exposure to international jurisdictions highly regarded.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
- Proven experience managing and developing payroll teams, including remote or geographically dispersed employees.
- Experience supporting organisational growth, expansion into new markets or global payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of payroll costing, general ledger integration, reconciliations, on-costs and leave provisioning.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems and drive meaningful change.
High levels of integrity, commercial awareness and attention to detail.
