Kangaroo Island Free Range Eggs is a unique South Australian egg farm where our hens are free to roam, allowing true free-range eggs to be laid, collected daily, graded and packed all on the property located on beautiful Kangaroo Island. Kangaroo Island Free Range Eggs can be found in outlets across Kangaroo Island, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney with one of the most wholesome and tastiest eggs available.
We are looking for an experienced Poultry Farm Worker to join our team who will be responsible for undertaking a broad range of poultry farming, handling, egg production, machinery operation and general farm duties.
The role includes the following range of tasks:
- Caring for and handling chickens for treatment and transportation.
- Continuous flock management.
- Patrols and checks poultry environment, maintaining hygiene and biosecurity standards.
- Cleaning, packing down, setting up and maintaining poultry sheds and equipment.
- Various animal husbandry tasks
- Monitoring poultry health and welfare and taking required prompt action to address this.
- Operating plant and machinery to mill grain recipes and feed poultry according to each flock’s requirements.
- Operating agricultural tractors for various basic farm tasks.
The applicant must have proven experience and competency in the tasks described above, as well as the following skills/licences;
- Hold a valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Be competent with literacy and accurate record keeping.
- Good understanding and skilled with animal husbandry and biosecurity.
- Ability to operate farming machinery competently and safely.
- Be self-motivated, proactive and have good time management skills.
- Speak English.
The position is full-time generally 38 hours Monday-Friday with weekend and evening work required during busy times.
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
