Key responsibilities
- Assemble and rebuild slurry pumps and associated components.
- Disassemble pumps and inspect components for wear or damage.
- Measure components and confirm tolerances against drawings and specifications.
- Fit bearings, seals, shafts, impellers, liners and other pump components.
- Identify worn or damaged components requiring repair or replacement.
- Complete pump inspections, testing and quality documentation.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, job instructions and specifications.
- Safely operate workshop tools and equipment.
- Assist with loading, unloading and movement of components where required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
- Comply with company safety, quality and operational procedures.
Skills and experience
- Previous experience assembling, rebuilding or repairing pumps, rotating equipment or similar mechanical equipment.
- At least two years of relevant mechanical workshop experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical fault-finding ability.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment and mechanical tools.
- Understanding of bearings, seals, shafts and mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to work accurately both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication, time-management and record-keeping skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Relevant mechanical or trade qualification is preferred.
- Forklift, dogging, rigging or overhead-crane experience would be advantageous.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
