First Steps Learning Academy has a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced Centre Cook to work in our beautiful homely Centre in Barden Ridge. Working between the hours of 8.00am - 2.00pm, 5 days a week you will be responsible for the preparation of meals, including morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and preparing nutritious meals for children on a daily basis.
- Ensuring that the meals prepared meet the special dietary needs of the children with allergies and cultural preferences.
- Ensure safe and hygienic storage, handling and preparation of food and drinks.
- Order food supplies in line with menus and within service budget and check of food deliveries made to the Centre.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold qualifications in Commercial Cookery OR certificates in Menu Planning & Nutrition.
- Have completed, or be willing to complete, a Working With Children Check.
- Be organised, creative and committed to working within a day care kitchen environment, as well as being able to work collaboratively within a team and be able to liase with families regarding any food related topics.
- Be able to demonstrate experience in cooking meals within a childcare centre, hospital, aged care facility or similar environment.
