The Opportunity
We are seeking a Consultant – R&D Tax to join our Innovation and Grants team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients across science, technology, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, and other innovation-driven industries. You will support the preparation and lodgement of R&D Tax Incentive claims and grant applications, working closely with clients and senior team members to assess eligibility, analyse technical and financial information, and prepare high-quality submissions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their expertise in innovation consulting and government incentives.
This is a full-time role based in our Hawthorn office.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist clients in preparing and lodging Research & Development (R&D) Tax Incentive registrations and applications.
- Conduct initial eligibility assessments using legislative and program guidelines.
- Gather, analyse and interpret technical, scientific and financial information from clients.
- Prepare clear and compelling technical documentation to support R&D Tax Incentive claims.
- Assist in identifying eligible R&D activities and calculating eligible expenditure.
- Support clients through Industry and ATO review, audit and compliance processes by preparing supporting documentation and responding to information requests.
- Collaborate with senior team members to deliver high-quality client outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients and gain an understanding of their business operations, innovation activities and growth objectives.
- Maintain accurate records, workpapers and client files in accordance with internal procedures and quality standards.
- Research government funding programs and assist in identifying opportunities that may benefit clients.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including enhancing templates, processes and work practices.
- Manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Communicate proactively with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure expectations, progress and deliverables are clearly understood.
- Stay informed of changes to the R&D Tax Incentive program and broader innovation funding landscape.

You are a curious and analytical graduate or early-career professional with a passion for innovation, research and technology. You enjoy solving complex problems, working with technical information, and communicating ideas clearly to a range of stakeholders.
Candidates must have existing Australian work authorisation as visa sponsorship will not be provided.
We are looking for someone who:

Is in their final year of study or has graduated within the last three years in Science, Engineering, Technology, Medical or Health-related disciplines
- 0-3 years experience in a professional services, consulting, research, tax, grants or related environment
- Has an interest in business, law and/or finance
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical or scientific documentation
- Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and a diligent approach to their work
- Can think critically and creatively to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
- Has strong organisational and time management skills
- Can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Is proactive, motivated and eager to learn in a professional services environment
- Works collaboratively and builds positive relationships with clients and colleagues
