Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for estimating and winning work? Downer is seeking an Estimator to join our team based out of Chinderah, NSW or Brisbane, QLD. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our Transport & Infrastructure business and be part of a collaborative and values-driven environment.
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in securing new works by delivering high-quality tenders and cost estimates. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure submissions are accurate, compliant and aligned with business objectives.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and submit RFT/RFQ tenders accurately and on time.
Produce first-principles cost estimates, incorporating supplier and subcontractor inputs.
Interpret drawings, perform quantity take-offs, and scope project activities.
Maintain estimating databases, quote registers, and documentation.
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors professionally.
Partner with Sales and Account teams to prioritise and support bids.
Present tender submissions internally and to clients.
Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
Previous industry experience in estimating, ideally within asphalt, surfacing, spray seal or civil projects.
Familiarity with Benchmark Estimating software.
Proven ability to interpret drawings and develop detailed cost estimates.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
Strategic thinker with a personable character and attention to detail.
