The aim of the program is to provide young people with increased employment opportunities, community connection and driver education. Duties will vary depending on the work area.
Tasks may include:
- Undertake all relevant training
- Basic reporting on participants driving skills and areas for improvement
- Attend driving sessions in a timely manner
- Utilise program resources to provide guidance and support i.e. Safe driving practices, vehicle operational, road rules
This position operates within the “Braking the Cycle program” and supports disadvantaged youth to complete their 100 driver hours which will enable them to achieve their provisional licence.
The Mentor acts as a role model, to create safer drivers, build confidence and resilience in the young people participating in the program. A minimum of 1 hour per week desired, with very flexible times that suit you.

Skills Required: - Held an open drivers’ licence for more than 12 months - Up to date knowledge of road rules and reporting requirements - A good safe driving record - Capacity to support learner drivers - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Respectful of confidential information - Accuracy and attention to detail - Committed to PCYC Queensland’s Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy - Positively contribute to a safe and supportive service environment for children and young people.
