About the Business
MAZ Building Group, in partnership with Auslink, operates from Melbourne Jet Base and provides construction, maintenance and Ground Support Equipment services across the Melbourne Airport precinct. The business services and maintains catering trucks, pushback tractors, baggage tractors, forklifts, trucks and other airport support equipment.
About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Mechanic – Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain heavy vehicles, plant machinery and airport Ground Support Equipment. This role is suitable for a qualified mechanic who is confident working in a busy operational environment.
Key Duties
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in vehicles, plant and Ground Support Equipment
- Service and maintain catering trucks, pushback tractors, baggage tractors, forklifts and trucks
- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, steering, hydraulic and mechanical components
- Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, lubrication and safety checks
- Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify and resolve faults
- Test and adjust repaired equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Maintain accurate service records and follow workplace safety procedures
Skills and Experience
- Relevant mechanical trade qualification or equivalent experience
- Previous experience as a mechanic or in a similar mechanical repair role
- Experience with GSE, heavy vehicles, plant, trucks or forklifts is highly regarded
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs independently
- Current driver’s licence and own tools preferred
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Willingness to complete ASIC/background and pre-employment checks if required
