About the Opportunity
As a Patient Services Clerk, you will play an essential role in supporting patient access and hospital operations through the provisional registration of overnight and day inpatients, coordination of planned and unplanned patient activity and delivery of high-quality, confidential and customer-focused administrative services.
Working across a rotating 7-day, 24-hour roster, you will support clients, staff and visitors while contributing across all areas of the Patient Services Department. This varied role offers the opportunity to build broad healthcare administration experience across patient registration, data processing, switchboard support and medical records administration while maintaining accurate patient information to support quality healthcare delivery. Key responsibilities:
- Provisionally register inpatient, outpatient and emergency patient activity.
- Process patient information accurately and within required timeframes.
- Deliver professional, responsive and customer-focused service to clients, staff and visitors.
- Provide switchboard support to hospital and community health services.
- Maintain medical records through filing, scanning and discharge collation processes.
- Work effectively across all Patient Services functions as part of a rotating team.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience delivering efficient frontline customer service and administrative support.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with a diverse range of people.
- Strong computer literacy including data entry, word processing and Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively across a rotating shift environment.
- Knowledge of customer service principles, workplace safety and professional conduct standards.
