About the role
Long Range Automotive (LRA) is seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our growing team in Lilydale, VIC. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work with a respected fuel tank manufacturer. In this role, you will be responsible for performing welding and fabrication work to the highest standards, contributing directly to the quality and safety of our long range fuel tanks. You will work on-site in Lilydale and be part of a collaborative team dedicated to excellence in welding and metal fabrication.
What you'll be doing
- Performing manual and semi-automatic welding using various techniques and processes to join metal components
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications accurately
- Preparing materials and work areas, including cleaning, cutting and positioning components for welding
- Inspecting completed welds and fabrications to ensure they meet quality standards and safety requirements
- Operating welding equipment and machinery safely and efficiently, maintaining equipment in good working order
- Assembling and fabricating metal structures, frames and components according to specifications
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment
- Collaborating with other team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used
What we're looking for
- Completed apprenticeship or formal qualification in welding and fabrication, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of MIG welding experience is preferred
- Proficiency in multiple welding processes, including MIG, TIG, stick and oxy-acetylene welding
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Knowledge of metal properties, fabrication techniques and welding standards relevant to the industry
- Current or ability to obtain relevant safety qualifications and certifications as required by the role
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various positions and conditions
- Proven track record of maintaining safe working practices and adhering to workplace policies.
