Position Overview:We are seeking a passionate and motivated physiotherapist to join our team and work with the Old Geelong Football Club. This is an excellent opportunity for a new graduate or less experienced physiotherapist looking to build their skills in a sporting environment. You will work under the close guidance and supervision of our head physiotherapist, gaining hands-on experience in sports physiotherapy and matchday management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing, diagnosing, and treating musculoskeletal injuries under the supervision of the head physiotherapist.
- Providing on-field first aid and injury management during training sessions and games, and coordinating further medical attention when required.
- Implementing and overseeing concussion management protocols in accordance with AFL guidelines to ensure player safety and wellbeing.
- Working closely with the head physiotherapist, coaching staff, and medical professionals to support injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation programs.
- Providing game day support, including preparing and maintaining medical equipment and offering on-field assistance as required.
- Educating players on injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, and load management to support long-term health and performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree qualified physiotherapist registered with AHPRA (new graduates are strongly encouraged to apply).
- Experience in a sporting environment is desirable but not essential — a genuine passion for sport and willingness to learn are what matter most.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with players, coaches, and medical staff.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate training sessions and game days.
