The position supports the delivery of Equitable Learning and Disability Support (ELDS) services at Chisholm, supporting students with disability, long term illness and/or mental health conditions so they can participate equitably and confidently in their academic pursuits.
The Senior Advisor contributes to the design, implementation, review and continuous enhancement of a holistic student support model that integrates individual assistance, group-based initiatives, social connection activities and proactive communication campaigns.
The role also contributes to the effective coordination and continuous improvement of Education Access Worker (EAW) and specialist support services, including supporting recruitment, onboarding and capability uplift of internal support staff.
Key responsibilities include:

Contribute to the design and implementation of holistic student support programs including social groups, peer connection spaces, study support series, skill building workshops to improve student belonging and retention.

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of internal Education Access Worker (EAW) and specialist support workforce models, including participation in recruitment, onboarding and capability development initiatives.

Support ELDS initiatives including workshops and program design, ensuring they reflect current disability inclusion best practice and technological innovation.

Co-design and consider the student voice when reviewing the Institute’s holistic disability support model integrating wellbeing, academic, social, and accessibility components.

Identify the educational support needs of students with a disability, long-term illness and/or mental health condition and liaise with the student, the teaching area and other relevant people or agencies to provide case management, determine the level of support available and its appropriateness to the educational expectations of the students and the requirements of the course.

Consult with members of the community about disability issues and ways in which participation by people with disabilities can be enhanced.

Assist with the development, implementation and review of Chisholm’s disability support program, policy, procedures and plans.

Deliver internal professional development sessions to teaching and professional staff on disability, assistive technologies, inclusive practices and accessible communication

Act as a specialised Subject Matter Expert (SME) in assistive technology, advising on selection, implementation, training.
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications and skills required for the role
You will have a Degree or Post Graduate qualifications in Disability, Social & Human Services or lesser formal qualifications with substantive relevant experience.
You are a highly motivated individual with:

Demonstrated expertise in assistive and adaptive technologies, including assessment, training, implementation, and evaluation.

Experience designing and delivering holistic student support programs, including social connection initiatives, study support pathways, and proactive engagement activities.
-
Proven ability to mentor and develop staff capability in disability inclusion, accessible learning practices, and universal design principles.
-
Experience as a subject matter expert or Senior in a team delivering high-quality services.
