About the Role
Housed in the heritage-listed former Gowings department store on George Street, Gowings Bar & Grill is where old-school steakhouse theatre meets Sydney's freshest flair - flames leap from the open grill, martinis roll past tableside, and handmade pastas steal the spotlight.
We're on the hunt for a Host who can match that energy from the first hello. If you love making an entrance count, thrive on reading a room, and want to be the face of one of Sydney's most talked-about dining rooms, this one's for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the tone from the door: greet every guest with warmth, confidence and a healthy dash of QT flair, anticipating their needs before they ask.
- Manage the floor with precision - seating, table turns, and bookings - keeping service flowing even when the room is at full theatre.
- Complete all checklists and operational tasks efficiently during shifts, escalating issues or incidents promptly.
- Support the food and beverage team where needed, including POS operation, cash handling, stock control, and venue presentation, all in line with standards and policies.
- Communicate closely with the team to optimise service times, back up other departments, and keep every guest's experience on point.
- Champion the Gowings and QT brand, build strong product knowledge, and lend a hand training and guiding newer team members.
What You'll Bring
- Ideally previous experience working in a host role at a restaurant or hospitality venue.
- A knack for managing guest expectations and supporting a fast-paced food & beverage service.
- Strong communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and a genuine work ethic.
- A polished, professional presence with an eye for aesthetics that fits the room.
