AC Hotel by Marriott is coming to the Gold Coast, and we are seeking an experienced and passionate Human Resources Manager to play a pivotal role in the successful pre-opening and ongoing operation of this exciting new property.
As the senior on-property HR professional, you will lead all aspects of Human Resources, partnering closely with hotel leadership to attract top talent, create an exceptional associate experience, and establish a high-performing culture aligned with Marriott International's world-class standards.

The Role
Reporting to the Multi-Property Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for leading all property-level HR functions, including:
- Pre-opening recruitment and workforce planning
- Talent acquisition and onboarding
- Associate engagement and recognition programs
- Learning and development initiatives
- Performance management and talent development
- Employee relations and workplace culture
- HR compliance and employment legislation
- Work health and safety partnership
- Workers compensation and return-to-work coordination
- Payroll administration oversight
- HR reporting, audits, and administration
- Budget management and cost control
You will act as a trusted advisor to the Operations Manager and department leaders, ensuring HR strategies support business success while delivering an exceptional associate experience.
Key Responsibilities Pre-Opening & Talent Acquisition
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for all hotel departments
- Build strong relationships with local schools, community groups, and industry partners
- Coordinate recruitment campaigns, career fairs, and talent sourcing initiatives
- Support Marriott's Access to Opportunity and community engagement programs
- Develop onboarding experiences that create memorable first impressions
Associate Engagement & Culture
- Drive associate engagement, recognition, wellbeing, and TakeCare initiatives
- Coordinate engagement surveys and action planning
- Create meaningful programs that celebrate achievements and milestones
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and people-first culture
- Champion Marriott's values and AC Hotels brand culture
Learning & Development
- Coordinate orientation and onboarding programs
- Support leadership capability development
- Monitor compliance and mandatory training completion
- Promote individual development planning and career growth opportunities
- Drive a culture of continuous learning
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide advice and support on employee relations matters
- Maintain compliance with Fair Work legislation, Awards, and company policies
- Manage HR records, audits, and documentation
- Support workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, and performance management processes
- Ensure best-practice HR standards across the hotel
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous Human Resources leadership experience within hospitality, tourism, hotels, or a related service industry
- Strong recruitment and talent acquisition experience, ideally within a pre-opening or high-volume environment
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Awards, and HR best practices
- Experience managing employee relations, engagement, and culture initiatives
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for developing people and creating exceptional workplace experiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology or a related discipline
- Experience within Marriott International or another global hospitality organisation is highly regarded
- Experience supporting hotel openings or large-scale recruitment projects is advantageous
