About us:
Redland District Special School in Thornlands, close to beautiful Moreton Bay and approximately 40 minutes from Brisbane, provides specialised education for students with disabilities from early childhood through to senior secondary. Our school is divided into Early Years, Middle Years, Junior Secondary, and Senior Secondary cohorts. Class groups are developed based on factors such as age, maturity, social compatibility and developmental level. Class groups are normally between 4-7 students. All classes have a teacher and teacher aide. Some classes may have additional aide time to suit student need or program requirements. The school offers a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment, with personalised learning programs tailored to individual needs. Students are supported through dedicated teachers and teacher aides, with access to specialist services including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, guidance and nursing. The school is committed to high-quality educational outcomes, individualised learning and successful pathways for students beyond school.
Your opportunity:
As Business Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the effective and efficient operation of our school. Reporting directly to the Principal, you will oversee the school's business functions, ensuring that resources are managed strategically to support the delivery of high-quality education for our students.
This is a dynamic role that requires a proactive and collaborative person who can manage competing priorities while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. You will work closely with the school leadership team, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the school's administrative, financial, and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Oversee the school's budget, financial planning, and reporting. Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures while identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies and resource optimisation.
Human Resources: Manage non-teaching staff, including recruitment, onboarding, and professional development. Provide leadership and support to ensure a cohesive and motivated team.
Facilities and Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance and development of school facilities, ensuring they are safe, functional, and conducive to learning. Manage procurement and asset registers in line with departmental guidelines.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure the school complies with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Identify and mitigate risks to support a safe and secure environment for students and staff.
Strategic Planning: Work collaboratively with the Principal and leadership team to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with the school's vision and goals.
