FUNCTION:
To perform a variety of tasks as assigned by Head Chef or Management in a skilled, efficient, safe and hygienic manner. A Cook plans, prepares, and cooks food items to ensure the highest quality service and experience for customers. They help keep the kitchen organized and running efficiently. They ensure proper food handling, sanitation and following food storage procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Cook you will play a vital role in the day to day kitchen operations.
- Preparing and cooking & serving of food according to recipes and menu specifications
- Assisting with food prep and mise en place before service
- Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Ensuring food is cooked and presented to consistent quality standards
- Following food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness procedures
- Communicating effectively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams
- Work in the kitchen as directed
- Maintain your self appearance in accordance with the hotel’s grooming standards
- Maintain a harmonious relationship with other members of the service team with respect
- Comply with all of the established hotel operational policies & procedures
- Perform any other duties as directed.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar kitchen role or food services role
- Ability to work autonomously & under direction
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- Practical cooking skills and a good understanding of kitchen operations
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain speed during busy service periods
- Attention to detail and a focus on quality and consistency
- Teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude
- Basic knowledge of food handling and safety standards
- A passion for the hospitality industry and a desire to be part of a dynamic team
- Availability to work a flexible roster across 7 days including late nights & Public Holidays
- You will need your own transport to get to work as we are not on a public transport route
- Must have the legal right to work in Australia
